Géraldine Sarthou (CNRS – France) – What is a GEOTRACES cruise? The example of the GEOVIDE cruise
Géraldine Sarthou is a senior research scientist at LEMAR (Brest, France). She completed her PhD in marine Geochemistry at the University Paul Sabatier in Toulouse (France) in 1996. After her PhD, she has conducted research at the University of Liverpool (UK) and at GEOMAR in Kiel (Germany). She is working on the biogeochemical cycles of trace metals in the ocean.
Her research interests include the quantification of the sources, sinks, and speciation of trace metals (mainly Fe, Cu and Mn) and the interactions between these metals and the food web. Her work is based on analytical development of new trace metal technics, observations in many regions of the world oceans and process studies in the laboratory with phytoplankton model species. She had been member of the GEOTRACES Scientific Steering Committee (2012-2017) as the French representative.
